Or: Me on corporate design going the wrong way, read on!
That is the knew Yaris/Vitz. It brings a frot fascia as purposeful as Louis XVIs wig.
I have no design degree, but I may say, this looks like an angry vacuum cleaner. (Do not ask). Well, it is from the brand that gave us this:
And here I might ask: Why Toyota, if you want some kind of brand identity design clue on every car, do you chose the fake-air-vent choice after all?
You know, I think Toyota's design staff has especial responsibility. No kidding, because if all them people will continue to buy Camrys and Corollas plus the occasional Yaris and they could make them commute in clever, straight and innovative designs that do not look pseudo-aggresive or like hell of a ricer straight from the factory. Like a Skoda Octavia.
And if you want to make all your cars sportier or dynamically advanced or whatever, why not use some design clues that worked well at the FR-S, like the characteristic lines at the rear.
You can do it, I know that!

Couldnt agree more. The Skoda is kinda like the camry here, capable at it's job but nothing special and the clean but subdued design really works for it. The new camry looks terrible.

We really need to the huge panoramic sunroof on the Yaris. They make them in France now, and FDM Yarises are available with the panoramic roof, so they need to bring it over here too!
Oh also, a Yaris XRS would be nice, too. Maybe 150-160 hp from that 1.5L, 5 valves, 8200 rpm, VVTLi, hell yeah! And of course, the fun roof.
Then they can offer a Turbo All-Trac model, turbo, AWD, Maybe around 200 hp or so.

They also build them with a 1.4L diesel engine, a 1.0L 3 cylinder gasoline engine and as a 1.5L hybrid in France. Do you want those as well?

Lexus has those horrible gawping mouths, as does Peugeot. But for that, it's a decent looking little car.

Of course! There is nothing wrong with Toyota reliability and maximum fuel efficiency :)
Besides, we haven't gotten a nice cute lil 3-cylinder 4-door hatch since the Suzuki motorcycle-engined Metro

Isn't that recent Mitsubishi subcompact a 3 cylinder? Anyway, we even get 3 cylinders (with a turbo) in vehicles as large as the Focus. The Fiat 500 comes with a 2 cylinder.

Oh yeah that's right, I totally forgot about the Mirage, which is way overpriced here (starts at over $12000, but it should be more like $8000).
Yeah I know about the 2-cylinder you guys get on the Fiat, and Ford is kinda toying the idea with giving us the turbo-3 on the Fiesta but not the Focus :(
I do wish we had more of those smaller Euro engines available here.

I love Skoda, especially mine but there is one feature of the Mk3 Octavia VRs TDi ................... the exhaust.
Looks good right!
Looking closer at the left and right exhausts on the VRs TDi.
How shoddy is that. The right one is fake and the left one is a faux cover and isn't even properly aligned (the TSi has real exhausts on both sides).

I like where Peugoet is headed indeed. And the Lexus strategy, while not appealing to me, is in my opinion quite wel executed.

Bad example, that's just as exciting as a bar of soap, a dried bar of soap.

That exhaust reminds me of an old saying. Looks good from afar, but far from good looking.

For instance - the new 2 door 108 - the design, not so much the color:
